This painting of Tierra del Fuego was created based upon a compilation of images supplied by a dear friend that I've known since childhood. He went down there in March and continued down to Antarctica and took 1,000's of photos. All breathtaking. Tierra del Fuego was quite a place. The wind was blowing and the shallow surf was restless. The trees were bent from wind and constant pressure. And yet the mountains, there they were, in the distance, rising up from the land like great monoliths, towering above the sea bed. As I painted this, I could smell the salt in the air, feel the wind blowing through my strands of hair, whipping my eyes and causing them to tear up...
